Chart Wrap: Muse debuts high, Tkay races up airplay chart

The Hot 100 sees Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar hold #1 for another week while Ed Sheeran sets a new record for himself with Photograph taking #2 up from #3, making it the fourth single from X to enter the Top 2. Jessie J’s Flashlight takes a new peak at #5 up from #10 while Jason Derulo’s Want To Want Me re-enters the Top 10 at #9 from #12.
Avicii’s Waiting For Love sees a jump to #11 from #23 followed by Little Mix’s Black Magic taking #12 from #22. Major Lazer’s Powerfulfeaturing Ellie Goulding scrapes by into the Top 15 at #14 from #21. At #20 is a new peak for Conrad Sewell’s Start Again, which jumps from #40 on its second week in the Hot 100. Jarryd James’ Give Me Something powers through to #36 from #64 and is likely to hit the Top 10 in the next few weeks. Most moved this week comes from Tkay Maidza’s M.O.B which hits #64 from #93.
Three debuts take place in the Top 50 all within close proximity to each other. At #33 is Charles Hamilton’s New York Rain featuring Rita Ora followed by a debut at #35 from Meghan Trainor’s Like I’m Gonna Lose You featuring John Legend and Little Sea’s Change For Love at #37.
ARIA Singles
Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar holds #1 for another week, notching up three weeks in a row. If it lasts on through to #1 next week then it will set a new record for her longest #1 single. Start Again by Conrad Sewell takes #2 up from #6 where it debuted last week, marking a new peak for the track as well as Sewell himself. The next notable movement takes place outside the top 10 with Little Mix’s Black Magic moving up to #11 from #25. Seeing a strong debut at #15 is Major Lazer’s Powerful featuring Ellie Goulding & Tarrus Riley, the latest single from their recent album Peace Is The Mission and the follow up to Lean On. Another track debuts in the Top 20 with Meghan Trainor’s Like I’m Gonna Lose You featuring John Legend, it sees an entry at #19.
ARIA Albums
Three albums see a debut in the Top 5 of the ARIA Albums chart this week. First at #1 is the latest album from Muse, Drones, which gives the band their third #1. The LP also went to #1 in the UK, their fifthrecord to do so in that territory.Taking the #2 debut is Seth Sentry’s Strange New Past, the follow up to 2012’s This Was Tomorrow. The last debut comes in at #4 from Of Monsters And Men’s Beneath The Skin. There are no immediate fast movers along theTop 40 except for the Furious 7 soundtrack, which sees a sudden boost to #13 from #26. A re-entry takes place at #24 with The Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers, while two other debuts dot the lower part of the Top 40;at #31 is Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard’s Django And Jimmie followed by Tremonti’s Causterize at #37.
