Chart Wrap: Michael Buble sets ARIA chart record with Christmas LP

This week, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud holds the #1 spot for its eighth week in a row.At #2 is Meghan Trainor’s Lips Are Movin which is also a new high point for the track. It has spent the past few weeks floating around the #3-5 range and it seemed doubtful that it was going to climb any higher up the Top 5. Mark Ronson’s hit Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars maintains its strong position at #3 for another week while Taylor Swift’s Blank Space drops to #4.Seeing a new peak at #5 is the latest single from The Veronicas with If You Love Someone, which is up from last week’s #13.Outside the Top 10, AronChupa’s heatseeker of a track I’m An Albatraoz continues its trend of success moving up to #12 from its #20 debut.
The chart is a bit starved for major movers this week as the year starts to wind down. The most notable movement this week comes fromClean Bandit & Jess Glynne’s Real Love which is up at #11 from #21, Nico & Vinz’s Am I Wrong which sees a small resurgence of airplay pushing to #41 from #52. The main mover takes place in the Top 70 this week with Carmada’s Maybe jumping from #89 to #65, a total of 24 places.
The chart also sees a host of debuts in the lower brackets starting at #50 with Mariah Carey’s Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). 5 Seconds Of Summer’s What I Like About You sees a healthy debut at #58 and The Avener’s Fade Out Lines comes in at #67.

Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars is now a certified hit, the Platinum track takes #1 this week and pushes Taylor Swift’s Blank Space down to #2. At #3 is AronChupa’s I’m An Albatraoz which is up from its #6 debut last week. Peking Duk’s Take Me Over featuring fellow Canberra nativeSafia hits a new peak this week at #6, up from #12 following more sales success no doubt attributed to their Stereosonic appearances. Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne’s Real Love has made some serious gains up the chart this week up at #18 from #37. The debuts this week includeEd Sheeran’s Make It Rain, whichenters at #26; the new Bring Me The Horizon single Drownwhich debuts at #27, Hozier’s Take It To Church comes in at #33 and Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP’s Sugar Man at #44.
ARIA Albums
Michael Buble makes history this week with his Christmas album hitting #1 for the fourth time in four consecutive years. It is the first album to ever achieve that on the ARIA Albums chart. Taylor Swift’s 1989 maintains its position at #2, Ed Sheeran’s X makes small gains up the Top 5 and now sits at #3. TheFrozensoundtrack returns to the Top 10 this week at #7 up from #11, as does Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour which hits #9 up from #15.Another soundtrack seeing a surge in sales is the Guardians Of The Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol:1 which hits #15 from last week’s #23.
