Chart Wrap: Foos take #1

Hot 100

Ed Sheeran remains at #1 for what is now his fourth week at the Top with Thinking Out Loud, leaving Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off at #2 where it has also been sitting for four weeks. Calvin Harris’ Blame featuring John Newman is back at its previous best at #3 after spending a few weeks darting back and fourth between #4 and #5, it still seems unlikely that it will move any higher however. Two tracks have managed to make their Top 10 debut this week; the first is Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding’s Outside, which enters at #7 from #13 and becomes Harris’ second single in the Top 10. The next is Meghan Trainor’s Lips Are Movin, which comes in at #8 from #16 and is only in its fourth week in the chart.

Some very notable movement occurs outside the Top 10 this week. At #29 is Hilltop Hoods’ Cosby Sweater which is up from #49, #28 sees Peking Duk’s Take Me Over featuring Safia move up from #39 and Parra For Cuva & Anna Naklab’s Wicked Games is up at #27 from #37, all three of which are new peaks. The most moved track this week comes from Taylor Swift with Blank Space at #16 from #49, a movement of 33 positions.

The Top 50 also sees a host of new debuts starting at #47 with Ariana Grande’s Love Me Harder featuring The Weeknd, Stylo G’s Call Mi A Leader comes in at #46 and the Veronicas’ If You Love Someone enters at #42. A particularly high re-entry can be seen as well at #41 from Jeremih’s Don’t Tell Em.

ARIA Singles

Sheeran continues his trend of chart topping on the ARIA Singles chart this week with Thinking Out Loud holding #1 for five weeks becoming the third longest-running #1 on the Singles chart this year. Taylor Swift’s Blank Space takes #2 after a jump from #29 where it debuted last week, now sitting just one position above her previous single Shake It Off. A move further up the Top 10 sees Hilltop Hoods’ Cosby Sweater hit #5 and a new peak. Just missing out on a move up to the Top 10 is One Direction’s Steal My Girl, which is at now at #11, a new peak for the track. Parra For Cuva & Anna Naklab’s Wicked Games has made significant gains up the chart landing at #26 from last week’s debut of #43 and is likely to move into the Top 20 come Saturday’s chart.

ARIA Albums

This week’s #1 is a new debut fromFoo Fighters’ Sonic Highways, their eighth studio album and their sixth #1 to date. The debut pushes last week’s #1, Taylor Swift’s 1989, down to #2 after it held the top spot for two weeks. At #3 is another new debut, this one from Pink Floyd with The Endless River, their first new material in 20 years. Just sitting out of the Top 5 is a new debut from Marlisa with her self-titled album entering at #6. At #9 is a debut from Melinda Schneider & Beccy Cole’s Great Women Of Country and at #10 is the latest debut from Machine Head with Bloodstones & Diamonds. Sitting out of the Top 10 is Katy Perry’s Prism which sits at #11 from last week’s #32, no doubt as a result of her Prismatic world tour which kicked off in Australia just over a week ago.
