Chart Wrap: Ed Sheeran races towards #1
Hot 100: Nico & Vinz have now held #1 with Am I Wrong for four weeks straight. Its previous contender for the top spot, Waves by Mr Probz, has fallen to #3 this week after a new possible #1 shot up the top ten. The new contender for #1 is Ed Sheeran’s Don’t. The single has received a huge burst of improved airplay which made it surpass the likes of Sigma, Sam Smith, Milky Chance, Tove Lo and Mr Probz. The top ten sees some new entries as well this week with Tove Lo’s Stay High pushing to #7 from last week’s #11, a new peak for the hit single. Charli XCX’s Boom Clap also entered the top ten after jumping from #16 to #10, also a new high point. The chart is definitely not starved for movement and debuts this week. Paloma Faith’s Only Love Can Hurt Like This jumped 30 places from #66 to #36 after two strong weeks of airplay, Ricki-Lee’s Happy Ever After jumped 50 places from #78 to #28 and most notably, Alle Farben’s single She Moves has jumped a grand total of 55 places on the chart this week, moving from #96 to #41. Two high debuts can be seen from Itch’s Another Man and Vance Joy’s Mess Is Mine which entered at #43 and #49 respectively. It’s worth mentioning that Vance Joy’s #49 debut comes after its very first week at radio. ARIA Singles: This week, The Madden Brothers hold #1 for a second week in the ARIA Singles chart. Their single now Platinum certified single We Are Done is also sharing success on the TMN Hot 100, currently sitting at an #8 and rising. The Singles chart sees a new second place this week with David Guetta’s Lovers On The Sun featuring Sam Martin, debuting at #2. Lovers On The Sun is Guetta’s third top five single this year. At #3 is Ella Henderson’s Ghost, which is up nine spots from last week’s #12. Two other noteworthy debuts in this week’s ARIA Singles chart are Paloma Faith’s Only Love Can Hurt Like This and G.R.L’s Ugly Heart. Faith’s single entered at #7 and is the British singer-songwriters first debut in the ARIA Singles chart. Girl group G.R.L’s single Ugly Heart enters at #16, their first appearance in the chart as lead artists; G.R.L featured on Pitbull’s track Wild Wild Love. It peaked at #10 in March. ARIA Albums: This week sees the Albums chart filled with new debuts. First and foremost is Taylor Henderson’s Burnt Letters which debuts at #1. This becomes the X Factor 2013 runner-up’s second #1 on the ARIA Album chart in the short space of eight months. At #2, another new debut, Sheppard’s Bombs Away. The album is the Brisbane band’s first appearance on the ARIA Album chart and features #1 single Geronimo, as well as Something’s Missing, which peaked at #35. The band embarks on their national tour next week off the back of this album which will no doubt help keep it in the top five for at least another week. At #3 is Rise Against’s new album The Black Market. The #3 debut marks the band’s third top ten album on the ARIA chart. It should be noted that although Taylor Henderson debuted at the expected #1, both Sheppard and Rise Against surpassed TMN’s midweek expectations of #3 and #5 respectively.
