Chart Wrap: Drake scores first ever #1 Single & Album
Hot 100
A new #1 graces the top of the TMN Hot 100 this week as Gnash’s I Hate U I Love U ft. Olivia O’Brien moves to the top spot up from #3 after six weeks in the chart. Dua Lipa moves up one to #3 from #4 with Be The One followed by a new peak from Pink at #4 from #10 with Just Like Fire.
The Chainsmokers’ make it to the Top 10 at #7 from #11 with Don’t Let Me Down ft Daya and make for the last notable change in the top bracket.
Galantis’ No Money hits #11 from #29 on its third week in the chart, while Topic enjoys a similarly successful week at #22 from #41. Delta Goodrem lands just shy of the Top 30 at #31 from #71 with new track Dear Life this week.
Taking most moved is Flume’s Say It ft. Tove Lo, which now sits comfortably at #13 from #55, a move of 42 places.
The first new debuts comes in at #24 with Calvin Harris’ behemoth of a single This Is What You Came For ft. Rihanna, last week’s most added track to radio. Little Mix’s Hair ft. Sean Paul enters at #38, followed by Sigala’s Give Me Your Love ft. John Newman & Nile Rodgers at #42.
ARIA Singles
Taking #1 on the ARIA Singles chart following midweek predictions is Drake’s One Dance ft. Wiz Kid & Kyla. The Gold certified track moves up from #5 on its fifth week in the chart and the move coincides with Drake’s #1 debut for Views. It also marks his first ever #1 on the Singles chart.
At #2 is a debut from Calvin Harris’ This Is What You Came For ft. Rihanna, entering only one point south of his previous best with How Deep Is Your Love ft. Disciples holding the record with #1.
Galantis’ No Money moves up to #12 from #19 on its second week in the chart while Desiigner’s Panda takes a new peak at #16 from #34. The latest debut from Beyonce is Hold Up which enters at #25. Meanwhile DNCE score a re-entry at #37 with Cake By The Ocean following a successful re-service at radio.
ARIA Albums
As previously mentioned, Toronto-reared rapper Drake has taken his first ever #1 on the ARIA Albums chart this week with the debut of his long hyped fourth studio album Views, the follow up to 2013’s #2 charting Nothing Was The Same. Itmarks his fourth Top 10 album in Australia.
Views’ #1 chart entry in Australia matches his performance overseas with a #1 only just recently revealed on the Billboard 200. It’s also so far scored #1 on the UK Albums chart and the New Zealand Albums chart, an impressive first week.
Adele makes a move back to #3 from #8 with 25 while Marina Prior & Mark Vincent’s Together hits a new peak of #5 from #13. Rob Zombie’s new The Electric Warlock Acid With Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser debuts at #8 followed by Sixx:A.M.’s Prayers For The Damned enters behind at #9.
Graeme Connors’ 60 Summers just misses out on the Top 10 debuting at #11 while Tasmanian up-and-comers Luca Brasi debut at #18 with If This Is All We’re Going To Be. At #19 is prolific Melbourne alternative/psychrock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard with Nonagon Infinity.
