Chart Wrap: Chet Faker sees success on all charts
Hot 100
This weeksees Hozier hold #1 with Take Me To Church for its third week in a row since taking the top position in the first chart back of 2015. Mark Ronson remains at #2 with Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars since taking the position last week. Up at #3 from #4 is OMI’s Cheerleader, which is well on its way to #1 if the streaming and sales charts are anything to go off of, as well as the fact that it is being played the most on many of the high rating networks. At #9, George Ezra’s Blame It On Me hits a new peak, moving up from #11 following a hasty jump into the Top 20 as airplay was significantly increased in the New Year. Also hitting a new peak this week, though falling short of the Top 10, is Robin Schulz’s new song Sun Goes Down featuring Jasmine Thompson, which hits #12 up from #27. It is very likely that we will be seeing this track break into the lower spectrum of the Top 10 come this week’s new chart.
This week’s fast movers include Hayden James’ Something About You, which is up at #24 from #46 and also made it into the most recent Most Added chart. Avicii’s The Nights enjoys a healthy jump from #39 to #26, Mashd N Kutcher’s Do It Now moves to #28 from #45 and Oliver Heldens’ Last All Night (Koala) is finally making its way up the chart from #62 to #49. This week’s most moved however, comes from Chet Faker’s Talk Is Cheap, which though already receiving increased commercial airplay in the new year, was no doubt boosted up by his recent appearance at #1 on triple j’s Hottest 100 list.
Three debuts take place this week in the Top 50. The first from Maroon 5’s Sugar, which enters at #31 following two consecutive weeks in the Most Added chart.Debuting at #42 is David Guetta & Sam Martin’s Dangerous and at #44 is Rhianna, Kany West & Paul McCartney’s Four Five Seconds which was last week’s Most Added song to radio.
This is the label marketshare based on this week’s TMN Hot 100 chart.
ARIA Singles
Things are very quiet this week on the ARIA Singles chart, at least in the Top 5 with no movement whatsoever. OMI enjoys his fourth week at #1 with Cheerleader while Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk sits at #2, hitting 4x Platinum this week. Hozier’s Take Me To Church sits at #3, James Bay’s Hold Back The River at #4 and Sia’s Elastic Heart at #5. Up at #6 however is a re-entry from non other than the triple j Hottest 100 winner Chet Faker with Talk Is Cheap, hitting its first Platinum certification amongst the massive movement. As well as the incredibly high re-entry, the Singles chart sees an impressively high debut as well, this time from Ellie Goulding with Love Me Like You Do entering at #8.Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney’s Four Five Seconds also sees a healthy debut, coming in at #13. Two particular strong jumps this week come from Robin Schulz’s Sun Goes Down featuring Jasmine Thompson at #7 up from #13, and Avicii’s The Nights at #9 making the leap from #23.
ARIA Albums
Taylor Swift enjoys her eighth week interrupted at #1 with 1989, marking the third time she has held #1 for two week periods since the album’s release. Following his tremendous success in the triple j Hottest 100, Chet Faker’s Built On Glass is now back at #2. The former #1 album is expected to linger in the Top 10 for at least a few more weeks.Entering at #6 is Marilyn Manson’s The Pale Emperor, his fifth Top 10 album in Australia. The next two debuts take place at #14 and #15 from Bethel Music and Pond with We Will Not Be Shaken (Live) and Man It Feels Like Space Again, respectively.
