Casey Barnes is country radio’s #1 as Tones And I ascends the Hot 100

Casey Barnes is the new king of Aussie country radio, with his latest tune ‘Sparks Fly’ (out through MGM) climbing three frames this week to top the chart.

It’s his first #1 on the recently-launched Country Hot 50 powered by Radio Monitor, after previously single ‘A Little More’ climbed as high as #2.

Barnes ends a long-raging battle between Morgan Evans and Brad Cox for the top position, with the pair trading blows and collectively holding onto #1 for the previous seven weeks.

His rise to the top comes with a shakeup of the Top 10 positions, with Adam Brand hitting a new peak for ‘Freakin’ Weekend’ at #3 (up eight spots), while Melanie Dyer’s former #1 ‘Memphis T-Shirt’ climbs four spots back into fifth spot.

The return of The McClymonts was cemented with a high debut for new cut ‘I Got This’, which hits #9 in its first charting week.

Other debuts on the chart this week come from Emma Dykes with ‘The Riddle Of Life’ (#29) and Camille Trail’s ‘Devil’s Drink’ at (#41).

Meanwhile at commercial radio The Weeknd racks up yet another week as Australian radio’s top song, as ‘Blinding Lights’ hits four consecutive weeks at #1 on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart.

The battle for the podium places is hotting up, with former One Directioner Harry Styles seeking yet another Aussie airplay #1 hit. ‘Adore You’ jumps two spots to #2 this week.

There’s also new peaks in the Top 10 for Lady Gaga’s ‘Stupid Love’ (up one spot to #5), Justin Bieber’s ‘Intentions’ (up seven places to #6) and ‘Say So’ by Doja Cat (up two spots to #7).

The heatseeker position for most upward movement on the chart belongs to Tones And I, with her new single ‘Bad Child’ sprinting to #18 in its second charting week. ‘Bad Child’ also beats Tones’ own ‘Never Seen The Rain’ to top the Australian Airplay Chart.

The Killers returned the highest debut this week, as new tune ‘Caution’ rockets to #32 in its first week on the chart.

Rita Ora (‘How To Be Lonely’ at #57), The Kid Laroi ft. Lil Tecca (‘Diva’ at #72) and Flume ft. Toro Y Moi (‘The Difference’ at #74) were some of the other debuts on the Hot 100 this week.
