Budjerah secures US release via Warner Records
Warner Music Australia (WMA) has partnered with Warner Records US to help Australian R&B artist Budjerah crack the US market.
His debut release with the label will drop later this month.
Warner Music Australasia’s president, Dan Rosen, said Budjerah is destined for big things, and the team couldn’t wait to see him take the next step in his career.
“I’m thrilled to partner with Tom Corson and Aaron Bay-Schuck and the whole Warner Records team to help grow Budjerah’s fan base and career in the US,” he said. “I know they can take him to a global audience.”
Bay Schuck, Warner Records’ co-chairman and CEO, and Corson, co-chairman and COO, said the US company is excited to partner with its friends in Australia on such an amazing artist.
“Budjerah is truly one of a kind and we look forward to introducing his incredible voice and talent to music lovers in America,” they added.
Budjerah released his debut single ‘Missing You’ via WMA in October 2020. It went on to becomes the most-played song on triple j.
His debut self-titled EP was co-produced and co-written with Matt Corby and was released in March this year.
He also collaborated with Pnau for ‘Stranger Love’, was nominated for New Artist of the Year in the 2021 National Indigenous Music Awards and was named one of Apple Music’s Up Next artists.
Budjerah said he’s excited for what’s to come.
“It’s really amazing to be working with Warner Records,” he said. “I’m really grateful for the opportunity they’ve given me to reach more people with my music and I’m even more excited for what’s to come.”
Last month, Budjerah signed a publishing deal with Mushroom Music Publishing.
