Budjerah joins the Mushroom Music Publishing roster
Fingal Heads /Bundjalung singer-songwriter Budjerah has inked a publishing deal with the Mushroom Music Group.
The 19-year-old artist will join the Mushroom Music Publishing roster as a songwriter, allowing him to access a range of collaborative opportunities under the Mushroom umbrella.
The publishing deal arrives off the back of the release of Budjerah’s PNAU collaboration ‘Stranger Love’, which the young artist initially penned as an acoustic ballad with Mushroom Music’s Joel Quartermain.
Budjerah, who is currently signed to Warner Music Australia and managed by Lemon Tree Music (Tash Sultana, Tones and I), said that the new deal would allow him to develop further as a songwriter.
“I’m really happy about signing with Mushroom. I think it’s the next step for me in my songwriting and can’t wait to see where it goes,” Budjerah said.
Mushroom Music’s managing director, Linda Bosidis, commended Budjerah’s prowess as a songwriter, revealing that Michael Gudinski had been eyeing off the emerging artist prior to his passing.
“From the first time we heard Budjerah’s voice, we knew we had to work with him. We have been following his progression over the last couple of years and we are in love with his songwriting and artistry,” Bosidis said.
“Michael Gudinski was a huge fan of his storytelling and incredible vocal talent. We could not be happier to be working with Budjerah and his team. This one is for you MG.”
