BTS have broken a YouTube viewing record with their latest music video
South Korean music phenomenon BTS have broken a brand new YouTube viewing record, just one week after the previous record was set.
For quite some time now, the world has been waking up the brilliance of K-pop collective BTS. With their hype being raised more and more in the past few months, the group released their latest EP, Map Of The Soul: Persona, on Friday.
While we’re still a few days away from seeing how this new one fares on the Aussie charts, the group complemented the record’s release with an appearance on Saturday Night Live on the weekend, becoming the first time ever that a K-pop band appeared on the show.
However, while they were busy celebrating that milestone, BTS were also being met with the news that their latest single, ‘Boy With Luv’, had broken a YouTube viewing record.
Yes, we're still running the numbers, but we can confirm that #BoyWithLuv (ft. @Halsey) is now *officially* the most-viewed 24 hour debut in @YouTube history!! Congratulations @bts_bighit ???? Enjoy @nbcsnl tonight! pic.twitter.com/xC8vHs27Nu

As Variety notes, within just 24 hours of being uploaded to the site, the Halsey-featuring ‘Boy With Luv’ had managed to rack up an astonishing 78 million views.
Even more amazing is the fact that BTS not only broke the previous record of 56.7 million views, set by Blackpink’s ‘Kill This Love’ just last week, but that they smashed it by almost 22 million views.
Interestingly, the last few months have seen YouTube’s 24-hour viewing record smashed more times than avocado in a trendy café, with Ariana Grande setting a record of 50.3 million views back in December, in turn dethroning BTS’ ‘Idol’ as the record-holder.
While it appears that this is another record that might be broken in just a matter of days or weeks, it seems as though the devoted BTS ARMY look set to help the group stay at the top of their game with more of these record-breaking feats.
In related news, eager Aussie fans are waiting to hear when BTS will be making their long-awaited return to our shores. Here’s hoping the release of 2019’s new material might just see them head back down under before long.
