BTS’ third movie gets global cinematic release

BTS’ third movie gets global cinematic release

BTS are coming to a movie theatre near you.

The record-destroying K-pop boy band are behind a third feature-length film, Bring The Soul: The Movie, set for a global cinematic release this August through Trafalgar Releasing.

For BTS’ ARMY fanbase, good things come in threes.

BTS has hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on three occasions, with Love Yourself: Tear, Love Yourself: Answer and, more recently, Map of the Soul: Persona. No other Korean act has come close to top spot on the U.S. albums survey.

Produced by Big Hit Entertainment and Camp Entertainment, Bring The Soul: The Movie is the third in a series which began with Burn the Stage the Movie, now recognised as the highest-grossing global event cinema release of all time with a box office of $18.5 million, beating the record set by One Direction’s Where We Are – the Concert Film, and 2019’s BTS feature Love Yourself in Seoul.

Soul tracks the seven-piece pop group’s Love Yourself tour of Europe, which torched the box office for 24 concerts across 12 cities. It’s likely to follow a similar format to its predecessors, which combined live footage with interviews and behind-the-scenes action as the lads lapped up life on the road.

The film will roll out at cinemas from August 7. Tickets will be available from July 3 at the official Bring the Soul website.

Just this week, BTS earned another entry in the history books.

The septet’s Map of the Soul: Persona, which topped the ARIA Albums Chart in April for their first leader in these parts, is now listed by Guinness World Records as the best-selling South Korean album of all time.

Persona sold almost 3.4 million copies in their homeland as of May 2019, a Guinness rep tells Billboard, eclipsing the previous 1995 sales mark record set by Kim Gun-mo’s Mis-Encounter, also known as Wrongful Encounter or Wrongful Meeting.

The album topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic after its April 12 release, and logged three weeks atop the Korean survey.

With Persona, they became the first group since the Beatles to earn three No. 1s in less than 12 months and their three-peat is the fastest accumulation of No. 1 albums by a group since the Monkees in 1967, according to Billboard.

Persona is the first release sung in an Asian language to hit the summit of the ARIA Albums Chart, and it’s the pop juggernaut’s fourth career top ten effort.
