Bryce & Ebony to take over triple j Breakfast
Having regularly filled in on triple j Brekkie and Drive together in 2020, triple j has officially crowned Bryce & Ebony their triple j Breakfast hosts for 2021.
The news follows the departure of the beloved Sally & Erica as triple j Breakfast hosts. After the departure of Ben & Liam in late 2019, it was revealed that the pair would be moving timeslots once again, this time, to the coveted Breakfast program. Sally & Erica announced their exit this month.
Kicking things off in January 2021, Bryce & Ebony will no doubt continue to offers listeners their unique brand of humour and fun. This year Bryce & Ebony held triple j Mornings presenter Lucy Smith hostage for three hours, re-branded the triple j station IDs. They also reenacted a dramatic scene from The Notebook and dropped a Dr Karl sample into a DJ mix.
26-year-old comedian and presenter Bryce Mills is from Moranbah via Woy Woy. He got his start in community radio, presenting on 2SER.
Bryce is set to host triple j Brekkie for the remainder of the year, while new presenters for House Party and Weekend Arvos will be announced in early 2021. Beyond that, triple j says there are no other major programming changes.
“I was in high school when I decided that I wanted to one day host triple j Breakfast,” said Bryce. “It was pretty arrogant of me to make that declaration during Maths class with absolutely no idea how I’d get to triple j, but here we are! I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to start this new role and get to know triple j listeners on an even deeper level.”
25-year-old hip hop and dance aficionado, DJ and presenter, Ebony Boadu, was born and bred in Western Sydney. Following hosting spots on FBi, SBS and MTV, Ebony joined triple j in 2019 and has picked up shifts on triple j’s House Party, triple j Breakfast, Drive, Good Nights and the Hip Hop Show.
“Over the past two years I’ve had the most incredible time spending my Saturday nights DJing and partying with people all over the country,” says Ebony. “I’ve been so humbled and grateful for that opportunity alone, but to now be able to wake up with triple j listeners and hang out every single day in my dream workplace is still something I’m trying to fully process.
“I’m so stoked to have the opportunity to share my favourite new songs, talk to artists that I admire and make 1000s of new friends every morning!”
Bryce & Ebony take over triple j Breakfast from 6 – 9am every weekday on triple j from January 2021.
