Bree Bowles, the Australian marketing whizz who cut her teeth at The Brag Media, has been entrusted to launch Republic Records’ new kids’ entertainment division in the United States.

Announced overnight (Aug. 22) in New York, Bree Bowles is appointed to lead Republic Records: Kids & Family, a new venture that wants to carve a slice of the kid’s music market.

Based in the Big Apple, Bowles is named VP, marketing and strategy and will be expected to sign, develop, and release family-friendly projects, some of which will be “announced soon,” reps say.

“Our mission is simple,” says Bowles, “produce world-class music that can be enjoyed by both kids and their parents, creating invaluable moments to connect in what is a distracted world.”

She continues, “We are first and foremost building a label that is trusted by parents, but we are focused on developing new IP, driving innovation, and exploring what is possible. Our team is excited, our artists are excited, and we hope the little fans will love the new music as much as we do. Kids are the future, which means kids are also the future of music.”

Kids & Family launched last Friday (Aug. 19), and sits within the Republic Records empire, which is run by co-presidents Jim Roppo and Wendy Goldstein.

“Beyond thrilled to announce the launch of Republic Records: Kids & Family!” she writes on LinkedIn as the story went wide in the U.S. trade media.

“I couldn’t be more excited and humbled to bring this new venture to life. Big shout out to Jim Roppo for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime.”

Bowles joins the UMG-owned business from Peter Shapiro’s Dayglo Ventures, where she served as senior director, marketing + operations.

Bowles has a stack of experience in the media industry, both in the United States and her homeland, Australia, where she held roles with Southern Cross Austereo, Nickelodeon, News Corp and more.

For four years, starting January 2017, she served as head of content at The Brag Media.

“We finally found the perfect partner and an incredible executive, Bree, to bring this venture to life with quality, family-friendly, and fun music,” says Roppo in an official statement.

Later, he sung Bowles’ praises online.Congratulations Bree, our Kids & Family music initiative could not come to fruition without your passion, creativity and tireless energy!” he writes in a social post.

“Looking forward to much success together.”
