BMG celebrates LGBTQIA+ Pride with global broadcast event
BMG has enlisted an all-star lineup for a 90-minute broadcast of live music to celebrate Pride Month.
Featuring performances and shout-outs from BMG-signed artists such as Ladyhawke, K. Flay, Rufus Wainwright and Meshell Ndegeocello, the celebration was broadcast to BMG colleagues from across 12 territories as well as employees from sister Bertelsmann companies.
The broadcast also featured contributions from acts like Bebe Rexha, Melissa Etheridge, Lee from Steps and Gabrielle, and concluded with a rooftop DJ set from the label’s newest signing Zach Witness.
The company said the event reflected its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Tom Robinson, veteran gay rights advocate and ‘Glad To Be Gay’ singer, commended BMG for throwing its support behind Pride Month this year.
“I would like to say a big thank you from my younger self to everyone at BMG for supporting Pride in such a big way this year,” Robinson said.
“When I was growing up in the 1950s, homosexuality was either a sin, a crime or a disease. Half a century later it’s just wonderful to see a global company like Bertelsmann with 120,000 employees celebrating diversity and difference like this.”
To keep the celebrations rolling, BMG has also made Brooke Eden, Ladyhawke, K.Flay and Meshell Ndegeocello’s live sets from the global broadcast available for public viewing, with Zach Witness’s DJ Set also being uploaded to YouTube.
