Blusher ‘Destined for the World Stage’ After Signing With Atlantic, Warner Music Australia
Blusher has the world in its sights after striking deals with Atlantic Recordings in the United States and Warner Music Australia.
The Melbourne pop trio signs a global pact with WMA and Atlantic, a division of Warner Music Group, and launches the first phase of their major-label life with the single “Dead End.”
Formed in 2021 by solo artists Miranda Ward, Lauren Coutts and Jade Ingvarson-Favretto, Blusher quickly found its own voice, with the clever, super-clean pop number “Softly Spoken” dropping in early 2022.
Triple J and Unearthed got behind the release — which the youth network described as “angry sparkly pop chaos” — and they signed-up with Powerhouse Management’s Jamie-Rose Fowler (George Alice, Japanese Wallpaper, INXS, ex-Yungblud) & Charlotte Ried (Polish Club, Gretta Ray, Matt Corby, ex-Vera Blue).
Later that year, the music industry took notice when the group showcased at Bigsound, reportedly landing a contract with the Dan Rosen-led Warner Music Australia and Atlantic just minutes after wrapping up their first set.
With Blusher, all three members are the leads. Ward, Coutts and Ingvarson-Favretto share vocals on many of their songs, they produce and write together, swap instruments on stage, and typically blow people away.
U.S.-based Atlantic Records chairman and CEO Craig Kallman is one example.
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Blusher into the Atlantic family,” he says in a statement.
“They’re among those rare artists that you know from day one are destined for the world stage, and we’re proud to give this amazing trio the platform to amplify their unique voices and bring their personal visions to life on a global scale. From their voracious appetite for creation to their fastidious work ethic, they’re everything we look for in an Atlantic artist.”
Kallman continues, “We’re happy to partner with Dan Rosen and the entire Warner Music Australia crew to give Blusher the launching pad for what we have no doubt will be a long and successful career.”
Adds Rosen, president of Warner Music Australasia: “As we continue to grow and strengthen our partnerships with Warner Music affiliates around the world, I couldn’t be happier to welcome Blusher into the global Warner family. Their talent and ambition is simply undeniable.”
Working closely with the team at Atlantic Records in the U.S. both on the signing and the “entire strategy moving forward is a dream partnership and sets Blusher up for global success,” Rosen continues.
“I can’t wait for their music to reach fans here in Australia and around the world.”
“Dead End,” with its thumbing, synthwave-channelling bassline, sweet topline and stop-on-a-dime melodies arrived at the backend of last week with an official music video.
Blusher will perform the new track and others when they hit the road in early March for a four-date trans-Tasman run in support of Norwegian artist Aurora’s The God We Can Touch Tour.
“Blusher embodies the next generation of empowered female artists – a self-contained force of nature who write and produce all of their music,” enthuses Carrie West, U.S.-based Atlantic senior director of A&R.
“I was blown away when I saw them live – three riveting pop stars on one stage, sharing lead vocals, rotating instruments, with full choreography. I look forward to standing alongside them as we continue to channel that irresistible creativity and energy into great records for a global audience.”
