Birds of Tokyo to fly on Aussie Bon Jovi tour

Birds of Tokyo were this morning announced by promoter TEG Dainty to join Bon Jovi’s This House Is Not For Sale tour in early summer.

The tour kicks off in Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday, December 1, followed by Adelaide’s Botanic Park on Tuesday 4, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Thursday 6 and finishing in Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 8.

To announce their inclusion on the tour, Birds of Tokyo posted a video on their Facebook page from 2014 in which they’re singing to Bon Jovi’s ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’, and which they caption is what got them the green light from the New Jersey lads to come on board!

The Birds are currently enjoying success with their anthemic single ‘Unbreakable’, the theme song for the recent Invictus Games in Sydney.

In September band member Ian Kenny said, just before the release of the single and news of more music:

“After a couple of years of fleeting highs and extreme lows, new music has now emerged squinting through the bright light of what seemed like a long and twisted tunnel.

“Only when we truly get kicked down do we learn what we’re made of.

“Through the rebuild, reflection and remains we find out who and what we are. We live on. We love more. We let go.

“Here comes a collection of songs written in the aftermath of one of the hardest years I’ve ever been through. It feels so long ago but I’ve only just found the voice for it now.”
