Victorian New Year’s music festival Beyond The Valley has announced it will not be going ahead in December.

In a statement released today, organisers said they had been holding off on cancelling the festival in the hopes public gathering restrictions would ease in the state. No lineup for the 2020 event had been announced.

“We have been holding off on making this announcement and have been hoping for a better outcome, however due to the current restrictions in Victoria we have had to make this very difficult and heartbreaking decision,” a statement read.

“It will be the first New Year’s in six years that we won’t be dancing with all of you, but we are already planning for a monumental 2021 event.”

Punters who have purchased a pre-sale ticket have the option of holding on to their pass until the 2021 event, otherwise refunds will be made available.

“Put it in your calendars and start counting down the days – we will see you on 28th December 2021 for a four-day celebration like no other,” organisers said.

Last year’s Beyond The Valley featured a lineup of US rapper Tyler, The Creator, Rüfüs Du Sol, The Veronicas, Cub Sport, Mallrat and more. Beyond The Valley follows in the footsteps of fellow New Year’s music festival Falls, which pulled the plug on its 2020 event back in August.
