Benson Boone Bags Top Spot on ARIA Chart with ‘American Heart’
Australians just love Benson Boone’s American Heart. The US pop singer’s second album crashes the ARIA Albums Chart at No. 1, one of three new titles in the top 5.
American Heart easily eclipses the No. 17 peak for Boone’s debut album from 2024, Fireworks & Rollerblades, which peaked at No. 17 and housed the No. 1 smash “Beautiful Things”, currently dipping 7-8.
Completing the podium is a pair of former leaders, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet, lifting 3-2, and Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem, up 4-3.
British pop-punk artist Yungblud starts at No. 4 with Idols, his fourth album. Yungblud (real name: Dominic Richard Harrison) notched a No. 1 with his 2022 self-titled release.
Also cracking the top tier of the ARIA Chart, published Friday, June 27th, is the soundtrack from Netflix’s animated musical fantasy KPop Demon Hunters, at No. 5.
Further down the list, US sibling act Haim nab a fourth chart appearance with I Quit. It’s new at No. 20. Sisters Alana, Danielle and Este Haim went to No. 2 in 2013 with Days Are Gone, No. 4 in 2017 with Something to Tell You, and No. 7 in 2020 with Women in Music Part III, ARIA reports.
The top-ranked homegrown recording belongs to Killing Heidi, whose 2000 hit Reflector bounces to No. 22, thanks to the release of a 25th anniversary edition. Led by Ella and Jesse Hooper, the pop-rock act had a hit on their hands with Reflector, which logged six weeks at No. 1 following its original release. The group went on to win four ARIA Awards in 2000, including Album of the Year and Best Group.
Perth’s Spacey Jane clock up a seventh week on the national chart with If That Makes Sense, dipping 13-36, while Melbourne singer Karly Jewell enjoys a top 40 debut with There’s a Jewell in Town, her second full-length album. It’s new at No. 39.
Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” manages an extraordinary feat, as it enters a 14th consecutive week at No. 1.
Prolific British producer Fred again… enjoys a career high on the ARIA Singles Chart with “Victory Lap”, a collaboration with Skepta and PlaqueBoyMax. It’s new at No. 3. Fred again…’s previous best was No. 13 with 2023’s “Leavemealone” (with Baby Keem), while Skepta and PlaqueBoyMax make their first-ever top 20 appearances.
No Australian-made recordings appear in the ARIA Top 50.
