Ben & Liam’s nudie pix banned from Facebook
A photo posed by triple j’s breakfast duo Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton in support of mental health in regional areas has fallen foul of Facebook’s anti-nude policy.
The two stripped off with strategic cover provided by a watering can and a bucket of hay in support of The Naked Farmer.
It is an association founded by 24-year-old farmer Ben Brooksby to show city slickers where their food comes from, and also to make the point that the people who provide it have mental health issues.
The suicide rate is 66% higher in the regionals, with farmers ranking high in the professions most likely to take their lives.
Brooksby’s family have been farmers in western Victoria for five generations, and the photos uploaded of rural folk au naturale “is a good way to showcase our farmers.”
Having interviewed Brooksby to highlight the problem, the triple j duo took their shot to further generate a conversation about mental health.
Their photo was posted on The Naked Farmer’s Instagram page, and also on the duo’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Facebook pulled it out explaining that the shot “doesn’t follow our Advertising Policies” with “excessive amounts of skin or suggestive content”.
It added: “We recommend using content that focuses on your product or service in a non-sexual manner.”
Stapleton told News.com.au: “I never thought such a big watering can could get you banned from Facebook.
“I know I’ve got a bit of a sloppy rig but I didn’t think it was that offensive.”
