Becca Hatch signs to Forever Ever Records, drop ‘Please U’

With a new deal and a single that’s getting traction, Becca Hatch’s 2021 is off to a strong start

Announced Friday, the emerging homegrown artist signs to Forever Ever Records, a joint venture label between Australian hip-hop icon Hau Latukefu and Sony Music Entertainment Australia.

The first release through the new arrangement is ‘Please U,’ which premiered on triple j’s Good Nights and soon after was added to rotation.

The tune has enjoyed spins on The Edge and CLUB MTV in recent days, according to Sony Music, and this week she nabbed a spot on Spotify’s ‘Women of AU & NZ’ playlist and sailed to No. 1 on Apple Music’s Best New Songs homepage feature.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Forever Ever family,” Hatch enthuses. “Hauie has always been a great mentor to me and has always been someone I look up to, so to be able to join his roster is a privilege. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Hatch’s career has been on the rise ever since she won triple j’s Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative in 2017 and played at the Sydney Opera House alongside the likes of Briggs and The Kid Laroi.

Born and raised in Campbelltown, Hatch fuses her Samoan and Indigenous culture with gospel and her distinctive R&B leanings.

“I think I’m drawn to making R&B from my family, from where I’m from,” she told the ABC for a feature published in March 2020, ahead of her performance for triple j’s Like a Version. “I grew up listening to a lot of Frank Ocean, Pharrell, Rihanna, Beyoncé… It’s always been something that’s part of my blood and my roots.”

‘Please U’ featuring Planet Vegeta is the follow-up to 2020 releases ‘2560’ and ‘Girl Like Me’.
