Beat Magazine undergoes facelift, revamps gig guide

Melbourne’s Beat Magazine is 33 years young, having just unveiled a new look as well as revamped gig guide.

The music and arts magazine remains free and in print, has undergone a facelift both in physical form and on the publication’s website beat.com.au

The new, cleaner design comes with improved website functionality and responsive mobile compatability.

“The Beat team and their collaborators have designed and delivered best practice in terms of functionality, feel and user experience,” said founder & director Rob Furst.

“That means rock’n’roll, arts, comedy, festivals and everything else you need to know being presented better than ever before — part of our continuing journey to lead the way digitally while retaining our independent voice and 33 years of music and cultural heritage.”

With live music still at its beating heart, Beat has also unveiled a new and improved gig guide.

The guide can now be searched for gigs within a particular radius or suburb, or via music genre.

There are also now direct links to tickets, and musicians can self-list their events.

“Like always, we’re proud to support our music, arts and entertainment scene,” said managing director Patrick Carr.

“Beat’s evolution, both in print and digitally, maintains a constant thread within Australian culture — and now, Beat is more accessible than ever.”

In a statement today, the magazine said it will also expand its content to cover more gaming, filming and television, while continuing to showcase Australia’s booming live music scene.

“We’re excited to have taken Beat’s Gig Guide to the next level. As Melbourne’s most comprehensive Gig Guide, we’re proud to have developed new functionality that gives our readers more,” added digital director Ruby Furst.
