Australia’s Ticketbooth acquired by US event technology giant
It’s a good day in the music industry when an Australian tech startup designed to help curb the globe’s ticket scalping issue gets acquired. And by a company with the same ethos for that matter.
Australia’s Ticketbooth, one of the leading independents in the local ticketing space, has been acquired by US event technology giant Patron Technology.
Patron Technology has acquired Ticketbooth from Perth born entrepreneurs Simon Guerrero and Matt James as part of a portfolio of acquisitions in the ticketing space. Patron, which provides software and technical support for live entertainment events, has also purchased Ticketbooth‘s sister companies Token Systems and Audiencetools.
All three Australian companies will continue to operate as standalone businesses, based in Sydney’s CBD, with a strong focus on servicing the APAC market.
Ticketbooth’s CEO and Founder Simon Guerrero said:
“We’re thrilled to be joining Patron Technology’s groundbreaking mission of disrupting the event technology industry. “Throughout the Ticketbooth, Token and Audiencetools journey our key mission has been to provide first class event technology to our valued clients, and this aligns perfectly with Patron’s goals.”
As a global event technology company, Patron Technology offers ticketing, data driven engagement tools, experiential marketing and mobile app solutions. For Ticketbooth clients, the buy-out will give them access to the full Patron Technology product suite.
Marc Jenkins, Patron Technology CEO, said:
“Ticketbooth, Token, and Audiencetools have been on our radar for a long period of time, and we are so excited to have them join the Patron family.
“The innovative solutions these companies offer compliments and enhances our ever growing suite of event technology tools, and we are looking forward exhilarating our growth both in the APAC region and worldwide.”
During Simon Guerrero and Matt James’ tenure at Ticketbooth, the company’s Australian team developed the advanced cashless RFID platform Token, and event marketing software Audiencetools, all product which now fall under the Patron Technology banner.
Patron has been beefing up its stable of companies to further its integrated ticketing solutions for two years now. The acquisition of Ticketbooth, Token and Audiencetools marks Patron’s ninth acquisition over the last two years.
Last year it acquired web and mobile developer Greencopper, live event technology company Thuzi and Marcato Digital Solutions, a global provider of event logistics software. In 2017 Patron acquired online ticketing platforms TicketLeap, ShowClix and SeatAdvisor.
