Australian Social Media Chart Wrap: Nov 25

Charts & Music Manager

This week’s Australian Social Media 50 chart sees Kylie Minogue jump to the top of the chart up from last week’s #8.

The jump is largely attributed to her recent performance on X Factor as well as the release of her holiday album Kylie Christmas. The performance on the X Factor finale saw her perform with sister and X Factor judge Dannii Minogue.

At the moment it’s Kylie’s YouTube engagement that is proving most fruitful, actually ranking #1 on the chart out of all other charting Australian artists. In the past seven days she’s seen 167% engagement from over 42 million activities. This dwarfs all her other forms of social media, with Twitter clocking in 2.2 million, Instagram 1.1 million and 2.8 million on Facebook. These channels sit at a 0.69% engagement rate, almost insignificant compared to YouTube.

Flume sees a small bump up to #12 from #14 this week after entering the chart last week, whilst Future Classic label mate Chet Faker sees similar success at #16 from #21. Out of the two, Flume has a higher combined audience sitting just north of 1.2 million, more than double Chet Faker’s 600,000. However, Chet’s engagement is higher at 24.99% compared to Flume at 16.64%.

Across the board the two electronica artists don’t differ too much in their rankings, though the biggest difference is on YouTube with Flume at #9 and Chet at #10. The gap between the two is huge, Flume sits at 450,000 subscribers where Chet is at 106,000, meaning Flume’s audience is 322% largerthan Chet’s.

Vance Joy takes a new peak at #20 up from last week’s #24 as does Tame Impala at #23 from #26. John Butler Trio enjoy a healthy move to #26 from #31 and mark the last notable movement in the Top 50.
