Australian Social Media Chart Wrap: Nov 12
It’s a battle on the top of the Australian Social Media chart this week between Iggy Azalea and 5 Seconds Of Summer. With constant back and forth between #1 and #2 on the Daily chart, not one artist has managed to make a significant hold. This is no doubt due to the incredibly close social media rankings.
5SOS are currently just able to stay ahead with the second highest engagement in the world through their website, Instagram, and YouTube channel whilst coming at #1 on Twitter and #10 on Facebook. With 7.85 million followers it’s easy to understand why 5SOSare on top of the Twitter game. Posts or re-tweets are coming out every few hours with an average of at least ten thousand likes or re-tweets on every post.
On the YouTube front, the biggest contributors to their success this week are the videos for Hey Everybody and the separate Behind The Scenes video which together make up for roughly 6.5+ million views.
Their Instagram account which is posting unique photo and video content every few days has received a combined total of over a million likes and comments in the last seven days.
Iggy Azalea comes in at #1 on Instagram, however the Mullumbimby rapper falls behind at #3 on Twitter and YouTube, and only comesin at #7 on Facebook and #8 for officialwebsites.
Sia holds fast at #3 with YouTube being her main contribution where she is #1. The biggest thing keeping her up is the music video for Alive, the first song off her upcoming album. It’s received 5.5m hits since being uploaded six days ago whilst the audio for Bird Set Free has clocked up two million views. Her SNL performances of both tracks have a combined total of viewsthat just fall under one million.
Vance Joy marks some of the only upward movement in the chart with a slight increase to #23 from #24, enjoyingan engagement rate of 28.28% of his combined audience of around 529,000. The majority of the engaged audience is on YouTube whilst the largest amount of audience is on Instagram. Johnny Ruffo takes a nice leap to #25 from #32 and marks the last of any notable movement.
