UK-based Trafalgar Releasing has struck a global deal to bring Roger Waters’ Us + Them movie to cinemas later in the year.

Detailed release dates are not available but Australia is a certainty for inclusion.

It has been a strong performer for Trafalgar Releasing, who’ve also conducted one-night-only screenings for Nick Cave’s Distant Sky and Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams.

The film by the Pink Floyd co-founder is based on his 2017/2018 spectacular Us + Them World Tour.

He played to 2.3 million fans over 156 shows throughout North America, Australia & New Zealand, Europe, Russia, Latin America and Mexico.

The show revolved around his most recent album, Is This The Life We Really Want? from June 2017, his first solo album in 25 years and a Top 10 hit in Australia.

The movie will include performances of his songs from Floyd classics Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall.

Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing commented, “Roger Waters’ contribution to the music landscape is unrivalled.

“His spectacular shows across the world, in the greatest stadiums and arenas are always poignant, relevant both creatively and as a champion of human rights.”

This is the second collaboration between Trafalgar Releasing and Roger Waters following the success in 2015 of Roger Waters: The Wall.

The distributor has also released in-theatre music events with acts as Muse, Grace Jones, Floyd’s Dave Gilmour and Joni Mitchell.

It’s screening last year of K-pop phenomenon BTS’ Burn The Stage: The Movie was the biggest ever event cinema release.

It reached 1.4 million fans, grossing $14 million from 2,650 theatres in 79 countries – toppling One Direction’s 1.2 million admissions in 2014.

The Coldplay movie was shown in 70 countries (including Australia where it was #2 at the box office) reaching 300,000 fans and turning over a gross of $3.5 million.
