Aussie Aussie Aussie: Hot streak looks set to continue on U.K. albums chart

The Aussie invasion looks set to continue on the U.K. albums chart, with no less than four homegrown titles set to impact the Top 20, and five in the Top 50.

Last Friday, AC/DC scored the year’s fastest-selling album with Power Up (Columbia), the rockers’ fourth No. 1 in the U.K.

Power Up is still charged, as it dips 1-4 on the midweek sales chart, ahead of newly released live recordings from Iron Maiden, Neil Diamond and Pink Floyd.

A little further down the Official Chart Update is the counterpart album to Nick Cave’s live solo concert at Alexandra Palace, recorded during the first London lockdown.

Idiot Prayer (Bad Seed) opens its account at No. 8 on the chart blast.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Tim Minchin is eying a Top 20 entry with Apart Together.

It’s the award-winning composer, musician, comedian, actor, writer and director’s first album release through an exclusive, global label deal announced in March with the BMG Australia team.

“I’ve been writing songs for 35 years, and have never released a studio album. Too many distractions,” Minchin said at the time.

Also, pop icon Kylie Minogue is still dancing on the U.K. chart with Disco (BMG), an album that recently debuted at No. 1 with a massive 55,000 first-week combined sales, the year’s loftiest before AC/DC blew it all up.

Disco is at No. 15 on the Official Chart Update.

Further down the list is ARIA Award nominee Kid LAROI’s debut LP F**K Love. It’s at No. 44 against a peak of No. 11.

The Official U.K. Albums Chart is published late Friday.
