Aussie hitmakers Sheppard went from strength to strength in 2020

To say Aussie hitmakers Sheppard have made the most of 2020 would be an understatement, given it’s turned out to be one of their biggest release years yet.

Despite the challenges this unprecedented time has presented, it’s clear the band have only gone from strength to strength. The band are currently celebrating the recent release of ‘Learning to Fly’, their 12th single in as many months.

The track serves as the final instalment in a year-long song project that will culminate with the release of their album Kaleidoscope Eyes in February.

Despite having only dropped last week, ‘Learning to Fly’ has already racked up over 100,000 streams and been added to the popular Spotify playlist ‘Just Hits’.

As explained by George Sheppard, the uplifting track was inspired by getting in touch with your inner child.

“‘Learning to Fly’ is all about throwing away the rule book on what life expects of you and to let that inner child inside of you fly… we wanted to give fans a triumphant anthem to close out our year of releases,” he said.

But the early success of ‘Learning to Fly’ is merely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Sheppard’s wins in 2020.

Back in October, they performed a rousing set at the AFL Grand Final, which led to previous hits ‘Geronimo’ and ‘Coming Home’ reentering the iTunes chart at #1 and #2 respectively. On top of that, another 2020 single ‘Solid Gold’ has been chosen as next year’s Olympic theme for the NBC network in America.

Most recently, the band hit Aussie TV screens earlier this month on the Channel 9 special Christmas With Delta, which saw them perform alongside Delta Goodrem.

Sheppard have always been over-achievers in a local music industry that would do well to be more pop-friendly. But if all of their achievements this year are anything to go by, February could very well bring with it another chart-topping album for Sheppard.
