Aus-based digital company migme expands to Southeast Asia with label deals

Australia-based digitalmediacompany migme Limited has deepened its reach into the Southeast Asian region.

The company has announced its partnerships with two independent record labels this morning: Singapore-based BMBX Entertainment (founded by apl.de.apof the Black Eyed Peas) and Philippines-based Terno Recordings.

migme’s flagship product is its social media platform; the expansion into Southeast Asia will see it act as a new social network for the label’ acts. According to Finance News Network, the initial offering will see Terno introduce 12 of its artists while BMBX has already introduced its acts to the platform, including Filipino singer Jessica Reynoso.

In July, migme announced its partnership with Sony Music Entertainment India as part of its expansion into the territiory. The agreement gives Sony India artists the ability to gain a share in the revenue generated from the sale of virtual goods on the platform.

migme first expanded into India in June through a team-up with management agency CAA Kwan and creative multi-channel network Qyuki.

In 2014 migme reported a net loss of $28.62 million, and in the first half of 2015 it reported a net loss of $8.8 million.
