Astral People Recordings Sign Fade Evare (EXCLUSIVE)

Fade Evare are the latest signing to Astral People Recordings, in partnership with PIAS Australia.
The Naarm/Melbourne electronic alt-pop four-piece, formed around siblings Mira and Tori Holleman (formerly of Retiree), are practitioners of dubby, bass-heavy arrangements, blended with hypnotic, trip-hop production, and fresh pop textures. Think Portishead, Massive Attack and The xx, in 2025.
To celebrate the new deal, Fade Evare today releases the debut double A-side single “Keep Talking”, a gooey synth jam, and “Yamaha Dreaming”, their hypnotic debut single which got an unofficial release in 2024 when it was uploaded to Bandcamp and Soundcloud and drifted across the airwaves.
Fade Evare joins a roster of cooler-than-you acts including Skeleten, Milan Ring, and Club Angel.
“The first time we heard Fade’s music, it hit us like nothing we’d ever heard before – impossible to label, impossible to ignore,” says Chris Rigney, head of label at Astral People Recordings on the new signing.
“It’s a raw, unpredictable blend of genres that cuts through the noise, something you don’t find much of these days.”
Fade Evare’s “Yamaha Dreaming” spread its wings last year when it caught the attention of programmers at FBi Radio and 2SER, and enjoyed spins at RRR and PBS FM, and with Rhythm Section’s Bradley Zero, who played the song on his NTS Radio show.
Astral People Recordings relaunched its recording division in 2023, under the guidance of Rigney, who joined the independent music company from Soothsayer, the electronic-focused Mushroom Group imprint that he co-founded back in 2016.
Based in Eora/Sydney, Astral People Recordings launched in 2019 in partnership with Inertia parent [PIAS], becoming the first Australian co-op label signed to the leading international independent’s global network, joining Transgressive, ATO Records, Bella Union, Speedy Wunderground, and others.
