Tim Minchin, Kate Ceberano to perform at Art of Music gala
The annual Art of Music dinner and fundraiser has announced its return later this year, with performances from Tim Minchin, Kate Ceberano and Ngaiire.
For the event, a number of visual artists create a piece inspired by a song or musical artist. The finished pieces are then auctioned off during the gala dinner, which will take place on July 17 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
The event was founded by Jenny Morris with all proceeds directed to Noro.
Visual artists contributing to the fundraiser this year include Laura Jones, Nicholas Harding, Holly Greenwood, inspired by musicians Goanna, The Triffids, The Teskey Brothers, Nick Cave and more.
Minchin will also be auctioning off the piano featured in his music clip for ‘Airport Piano’.
Further performing artists are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
“It’s a thrill to be presenting Art Of Music once again. We had to postpone last year but I’m hoping it makes everyone all the more hungry for high quality, original and collectable works,” Morris said in a statement.
“As always, my thinking around compiling the collection was to cover as many creative disciplines, styles and price ranges as possible so that there is something for everyone.
“Sailing above all of that of course, is the intent to present quality works.
“It has always been important to me to present works that will appeal not only to seasoned collectors, but also works that will whet the appetites of those beginning to see the value of buying art.”
Tickets for the Art of Music are on sale through the event’s website.
