Ariana Grande’s latest single has made Spotify history, becoming the fastest song to surpass 100 million streams.

Back in August, Ariana Grande released her latest full-length albumSweetener. While the record found itself topping charts all around the world, the singer hardly took any time to celebrate, hitting the studio to work on a follow-up.

Earlier this month, Grande dropped the surprise track ‘thank u, next’, which quickly found itself debuting at #1 on the US Billboard charts. Despite being involved in a little bit of controversy, the single quickly proved itself to be a hit, regardless of a surprisingly low chart performance so far.

However, it appears that the charts are unimportant for ‘thank u, next”s success, with the tune managing to break another impressive Spotify record.

Taking to Instagram today, Ariana Grande revealed the news of this record-breaking achievement to her fans. “‘thank u, next’ has surpassed 100 MILLION streams on Spotify in only 11 days,” she wrote. “It is the fastest song in HISTORY to reach this milestone.”

Interestingly, this isn’t the first record that the track has broken on Spotify, with ‘thank u, next’ also breaking the record for the most-streamed song in a single day for a female artist, with 8.2 million streams on November 5th.

Amazingly, this record continued to be broken up until November 9th, when it was streamed 9.6 million times, becoming the fourth most-streamed song in a single day, behind XXXTentacion, Ed Sheeran, and Drake.

At this stage, ‘thank u, next’ has only been out in the world for just twelve days, so there’s no saying how many more records it’s set to break. Plus, if we add in the fact that Ariana Grande is set to release a new album at some point in the near future, it’s looking like 2018 is shaping up to well and truly be her year.
