Jimmy Barnes & Elton John are both chasing #1 albums this week
Jimmy Barnes is on track to break new ground on the ARIA Albums Chart this week.
Midweek data indicates that Barnes’ My Criminal Record is in the running to debut at #1 on Saturday (June 8), and by doing so, will break a record he already holds alongside U2 and Madonna.
All three acts have claimed 11 chart-topping albums in Australia.
But our working class hero is up against some fierce competition this week.
Following the Australian cinematic release of its namesake film, Rocketman (Music From The Motion Picture) looks set to rocket up the chart, as does Elton John’s 2017 greatest hits record Diamonds.
Both albums are in the running for the top spot this week, battling with Barnes for the title.
Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus is looking to secure another Top 10 debut with her latest release She Is Coming.
Also aiming for the Top 10 is Thomas Rhett’s new release Center Point Road.
UPDATE: Jimmy Barnes’ well-oiled publicity machine has gone into overdrive over the past 24 hours, as the push around the album redoubles.
He appeared on ABC’s 7:30 on Wednesday evening alongside his son David Campbell, to tell the story of their unique relationship.
Barnes also joined Tom Gleeson for The Weekly‘s Hard Chat, going toe-to-toe in an interview that saw Gleeson looking somewhat overawed by the occasion.
