A Century of Music: The ARIA Awards Return to Hordern Pavilion for a 100-Year Celebration

In Partnership with Hordern Pavilion

On November 20, the ARIA Awards will return to Sydney’s legendary Hordern Pavilion for the third year running. It’s a meaningful choice for the 2024 Awards, coinciding with The Hordern’s 100th anniversary.

Since it first opened its doors in 1924, The Hordern has welcomed some of the biggest names in music to its stage, including Queen, The Jackson 5 and INXS, as well as contemporary artists like Coldplay, Billie Eilish and Flume. For many, The Hordern represents an important chapter in their careers, offering a unique, intimate connection with Australian fans.

After a cracking 2023 Awards ceremony, which saw G Flip and Jessica Mauboy perform, this year’s ARIA Awards will continue to celebrate the role Hordern Pavilion plays in shaping Australian music.

“For 100 years now, The Hordern has hosted a blend of Australian talent and international superstars, creating moments where our artists have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s best,” says Annabelle Herd, CEO of ARIA and PPCA.

“It’s the perfect place to celebrate Australian music’s night of nights, honouring those who shape our industry and inspire audiences worldwide.”

Several artists nominated in this year’s ARIA Award categories, including Dom Dolla, Troye Sivan, Rüfüs Du Sol, Amy Shark and The Kid Laroi, have performed at The Hordern earlier in their careers. For these artists and more, The Hordern has been an important stepping stone, helping them transition from local favourites to international names.

“An Aussie act taking the stage at the Hordern is often a sure sign they’re ready to make their mark globally, but it’s also a venue that feels like home—where artists return to share their journey with the fans who were there from the start,” says Herd.

As The Hordern marks 100 years, it continues to host an epic lineup of live events. With upcoming shows by FINNEAS, Tate McRae, King Stingray, TISM, and the recently announced 2025 World Tour for Amyl & The Sniffers’ third album, Cartoon Darkness, there’s so much Aussie and international talent to get out there and support.

So, whether you’re tuning into the ARIA Awards or buying tickets for a show at The Hordern, remember you’re more than a spectator, you’re part of this venue’s iconic story.
