APRA AMCOS opens 2021 Art Music Fund applications
APRA AMCOS has opened applications for its 2021 Art Music Fund, with grants of $5,000 available for Australian and New Zealand art music composers.
According to a statement, the fund is specifically designed “for the creation of commissioned work that is innovative, displays professional compositional craft and represents a benchmark of excellence in its field”. All up, 10 grants of $5,000 are available.
Applications will be judged on their innovation, excellence and compositional craft, viability, and reach and impact. The composers are expected to work alongside ensembles, orchestras, producers and other parties to “propose the writing of a work that will be guaranteed multiple exposures by way of performances, recordings, broadcasts or digital dissemination”.
Grants from the 2020 round went to financially supporting the creation of a cappella works, electroacoustic compositions, chamber music pieces and more.
“The Art Music Fund has helped bring dozens of new works to life and it’s gratifying to see them flourish beyond the premiere,” APRA AMCOS’ Jana Gibson said in a statement.
“We’ve altered this year’s application requirements to allow composers some flexibility in the creation of new work in these uncertain times, which will no doubt lead to another year of inspiring commissions.”
Applications for the Art Music Fund close on February 16 at 5pm AEDT. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of the month.
