Sweat It Out signs Annie Bass to label roster

Sweat It Out signs Annie Bass to label roster

Sydney-based electronic artist Annie Bass has signed with boutique dance label Sweat It Out to release her new single ‘Step Aside’.

A moody down-tempo cut that spotlights her vocal range and lyrical sensibilities, ‘Step Aside’ marks the first taste of Bass’s upcoming EP for Sweat It Out, scheduled for release later this year.

Josh Kellet, general manager of Sweat It Out, said that the label had been fans of Bass “for a long time” before the signing.

“When we got the opportunity to meet her and hear the songs she’d been working on, we instantly connected and couldn’t wait to have her join our family,” Kellet said.

“Annie is a forward-thinking artist with such a considered creative spirit, and we’re privileged to be a part of the ride in bringing out her new records.”

Reflecting on the experience of signing with the label, Bass highlighted the supportive culture at Sweat It Out as being one of the primary reasons that drove her to join the likes of RÜFÜS DU SOL, Crooked Colours and Dom Dolla on the label roster.

“Signing to Sweat It Out just felt right,” Bass remarked.

“In a very serendipitous moment, I was introduced to Josh through a mutual friend who was helping me navigate some rough waters.

“I had recently learned an important lesson, that not everybody in the music industry can or will do what is best for you. It’s all part of being human, and I have come out stronger than ever, but an important lesson all the same.

“When I started talking to Josh, and eventually the whole Sweat It Out team I could tell right away how much they cared about music and about each other. In my time as an artist I have never felt so supported and understood, and I am so proud of what we have created together.”
