Brother-sister duo Angus & Julia Stone have just had their single ’Big Jet Plane’ certified Gold.
Angus originally wrote the song under the alias Lady of the Sunshine in 2009, but it was the re-recorded version, released in 2010 with sister Julia, that really struck a chord.
Lifted from the duo’s second full-length album Down The Way, ’Big Jet Plane’ was released to critical acclaim, winning the ARIA for Single of the Year.
It was also voted #1 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2010, and having previously being certified gold in Australia, the track has now received the same accreditation in the US from the RIAA with over 500,000 in sales.
Nettwerk reports that Angus & Julia, who are currently touring America in support of their latest album Snow, were presented with plaques to commemorate the achievement in advance of their show at The Fonda Theatre in LA.
2018 will see the siblings embark on an extensive tour of Australia.
