Amy Shark’s US takeover is upon us with new label deal

Gold Coast artist Amy Shark, aka the musician who wrote one of the most stunning singles of 2016 (‘Adore’) is preparing her American takeover with Alicia Keys, Pink and Britney Spears’ label.

Shark has partnered with RCA records in the US, which is also home to local acts Sia, Peking Duk, Isaiah and Grace.

Shark has also just appointed an impressive global booking team with Marty Diamond (Ed Sheeran, Cold Play, Charli XCX) of Paradigm Talent Agency representing her in the US Rob Zifarelli (City and Colour, Vance Joy, Boy and Bear) of United Talent Agency in Canada, and Natasha Bent (CVRCHES, Foster the People) of Coda Agency covering the UK and Europe).

The announcement comes as she kicks off her first show on the national sold-out tour tonight in Tasmania and releases new single, ‘Weekends’.

Lifted from her upcoming six-track Night Thinker EP (out April 21) was produced by Dann Hume (Matt Corby, Daniel Johns, Courtney Barnett) and was premiered on triple j Drive yesterday afternoon.

Shark said of the single: “’Weekends’ is an extremely personal song, I actually wrote the guitar part about five years ago which sounds crazy, but I couldn’t think of any lyrics good enough to match the guitar so I let it go for so many years, until now!  “I’m so excited to announce the release of my debut EP Night Thinker, this body of work has been brewing for a very long time, I held nothing back on this EP and it’s going to be an incredible feeling once it’s finally released to the world.”

The now Platinum-accredited ‘Adore’ has surpassed 10 million streams on Spotify, was placed #2 on triple j’s Hottest 100, peaked at #3 on the ARIA chart, #1 on the Australian iTunes chart, #1 on the Australian Shazam chart and #5 on the Australian Spotify chart. It’s also short-listed for the Top 5 APRA Song of The Year.
