Amy Shark to headline NRL Grand Final entertainment
ARIA Award-winning Amy Shark will perform as part of the “pre-game spectacular” at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium for the NRL Grand Final on Sunday, October 25.
Shark’s new single ‘C’mon’ featuring Travis Barker will be released two days prior to the event.
NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo noted the parallels between Shark’s song and the challenges NRL stars have faced this year.
“The single was written about the highs and lows that come with being a musician, something our players can certainly relate to,” he said.
“For her to perform that single on Grand Final day will be a great tribute to all our players and fans who sacrificed so much in 2020 to get to our Grand Final.
“Grand Final Day in 2020 will be a day of celebration, unity and gratitude for all those who came together to keep the game going this year, and Amy’s performance will be an important part of that.”
Shark said after everything 2020 has thrown up, it was a thrill to have the opportunity to perform.
“It’s been a really tough year for rugby league and live entertainment, so I’m really excited to be bringing the band and crew together for this exciting pre-match performance,” she said.
“I can’t wait to celebrate the finalists on the field and bring some live music to homes across Australia.”
The AFL also recently revealed its all-Australian music entertainment line-up ahead of its Grand Final event in Brisbane.
