Amrap Chart Wrap –  Indigenous Artists Sweep Community Radio Charts

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week sees Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists garner airplay across the country following last week’s NAIDOC celebrations, with Briggs riding high at #1 in the Amrap Regional Chart.

Briggs takes the top spot in the Amrap Regional Chart with The Children Came Back – a hip hop homage to the Archie Roach classic They Took the Children Away. The storytelling single has racked up airplay at stations across the country including 2XX FM Canberra, Huon FM in TAS, CAAMA Radio and PAW Radio in NT, Fraser Coast FM and Switch 1197 in QLD, 5UMA, Three D Radio, Radio Adelaide and Tribe FM in SA, Radio Goolarri, Twin Cities FM, Wangki Yupurnanupurru, Tjuma Pulka FM and 6DBY in WA, Southern FM, Mountain District Radio, 3CR and Seymour FM in VIC, as well as 2AIR, 2WAY, 2TEN and Eastside FM in NSW.

Airling has taken #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Stallin’. The Brisbane R’n’B provocateuse has nailed spots in the RTR FM Perth Sound Selection, SYN Melbourne’s Sweet 16, rotation on FBi Radio Sydney and a place in the 4ZZZ Brisbane Top 20. The track has received airplay at CAAMA Radio in NT, 4ZZZ and Noosa Community Radio Brisbane, Twin Cities FM Perth, 2RRR and Triple H FM Sydney, plus Inner FM, 3MGB and 3RPC in VIC.

Saskwatch are back at #2 in the Amrap Regional Chart with the folk/pop number Down the Stairs from their new record Sorry I let it Come Between Us, Feature Record last week on PBS FM Melbourne. Check out a live performance of the track as featured via Amrap Pages on station websites including Tyga FM TAS, RTR FM Perth, 4ZZZ Brisbane, FBi Radio Sydney, Bay FM Byron Bay and 2BOB NSW, as well as Triple R and North West FM in VIC.

Veteran Sydney psych act The Laurels have entered the Amrap Metro Chart at #2 with the neo-psych single Zodiac K. The track has received a spot in SYN Melbourne’s Sweet 16 playlist and rotation on FBi Radio with additional airplay at RTR FM Perth, Hills Radio in SA, 4ZZZ and Valley FM in QLD, as well as 3NRG, 3RPC and Radio Upper Murray in VIC.

More glorious Indigenous melodies have entered this week’s Amrap Charts with Rayella at #6 in the Regional Chart with the spirited single Wrong Kind of Man. The Marlinja Community’s family band are loved by stations in every state and territory including 2XX FM Canberra, PAW Radio in NT, Huon FM in TAS, Fraser Coast FM, Valley FM and 4YOU in QLD, Radio Goolarri, Noongar Radio, Wangki Yupurnanupurru and Tjuma Pulka FM in WA, 5UMA, PBA FM and Tribe FM in SA, 3WAY FM, 3RPC, Radio Upper Murray and Melton Community Radio in VIC, and 2RRR, Vox FM, 2AIR and 2WAY FM in NSW.

Fraser A. Gorman has debuted at #4 in the Amrap Metro Chart with the funky country-rock of Shiny Gun. Listen to Gorman interviewed on RTR FM Perth’s Out to Lunch, chatting about upcoming projects and the exciting people he has worked with. The sing-along single’s official film clip has been featured via Amrap Pages on station websites including 4ZZZ Brisbane, RTR FM Perth, Triple R and Melton Community Radio VIC, and FBi Radio and Triple H FM Sydney.

All girl Sydney trio Little May have climbed to #3 in the Amrap Regional Chart with their homesick single Home. Watch the official film clip featured via Amrap Pages across the eastern states at stations including 979 FM in VIC, Edge Radio Hobart and 4ZZZ Brisbane, not to mention a host of NSW stations including FBi Radio, Triple H FM and 2RRR Sydney, and 2BOB and Byron Bay FM.

Melbourne’s Lanks has entered the Amrap Metro Chart at lucky #7 with the refined atmospheric loops of Aurelia, having picked up Australian Feature on SYN Melbourne. The track has received additional airplay at Edge Radio Hobart, 4ZZZ Brisbane, Gippsland FM and North West FM in VIC, and 2RRR and FBi Radio Sydney.

Roger Knox returns to the Amrap Regional Chart for the third week running at #8 with Stranger in my Country. Watch live footage of the Bogabilla king of Koori country as featured via Amrap Pages on station websites including FBi Radio Sydney and Bay FM Byron Bay NSW, 4ZZZ Brisbane, Triple R Melbourne and Radio Goolarri WA.

Arnhem Land rap newcomer Bala G has entered the Amrap Regional Chart at #9 with the experiential hip hop track Easy Street, detailing important issues faced by Bala G and others in his Dhalinybuy community. The track has received airplay across Australia at 2XX FM Canberra, Noosa Community Radio in QLD, 5GTR and 5UMA in SA, CAAMA Radio and PAW Radio in NT, Noongar Radio, Wangki Yupurnanupurru and Harvey Community Radio in WA, Cairns FM, 2SEA, Koori Radio and Vox FM in NSW, and Melton Community Radio, PBS FM, HOT FM, Seymour FM and 3WAY FM in VIC.
