The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the Top 10 tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week sees Asdasfr Bawd debut in the Amrap Metro Chart at #1 and Cold Chisel climb up the Amrap Regional Chart to #1 with their new single.
19-year old Melbourne producer Asdasfr Bawd enters the Amrap Metro Chart at #1 with his new single Alsp. The track demonstrates a masterful understanding of rhythm and has achieved adds list spots on RTR FM Perth’s Sound Selection, SYN Melbourne’s Sweet 16 as well as New Noise Rotation on FBi Radio Click Sydney. The beautiful and melodic tune can be heard via Amrap Pages on Triple R Melbourne and 4ZZZ Brisbane, and has also gained additional airplay on 5GTR in SA, as well as 3RPC and Triple R in VIC.
Timeless Aussie rock band Cold Chisel soar up the Amrap Regional Chart to #1 with Lost, the first single off their upcoming album. The track has garnered airplay on stations including Gove FM in NT, Noosa Community Radio in QLD, City Park Radio in TAS, Tjuma Pulka Media Aboriginal Corporation and Noongar Radio in WA, Fleurieu FM, PBA FM and Hills Radio in SA, HOT FM, Mountain District Radio and Phoenix FM in VIC, and also Bega Community Radio, Monaro FM and 2RDJ in NSW. Melbourne folk/pop four piece Tiny Little Houses slide down to #2 in the Amrap Metro Chart with Soon We Won’t Exist. Their 90s influenced pop magic can be heard via Amrap Pages on RTR FM Perth, Mountain District Radio in VIC, FBi Radio Sydney, 2RRR Sydney and 2BOB Radio in NSW, and the track also received airplay on Noosa Community Radio in QLD, PBA FM in SA, Ballarat Community Radio, UGFM and Radio Upper Murray in VIC, as well as Triple U, 2SSR and 2REM in NSW.
Hobart rocker Glen Heald moves up to #2 in the Amrap Regional Chart this week with his swampy blues/rock song Washed Away Her Sins. Recorded with his brother Dave on bass, the track gained airplay on stations including Gove FM in NT, Noosa Community Radio in QLD, City Park Radio in TAS, Noongar Radio and Wangki Yupurnanupurru in WA, Tribe FM, 5GTR and 5THE in SA, Main FM, 3MGB and 3NRG in VIC, and also 2SEA, Nambucca Valley Radio and 2EAR in NSW.
Pond frontman and former Tame Impala member Nicholas Allbrook grabs the #5 place in the Amrap Metro Chart on debut with his new solo track Blanket 3072. The solid wall of impenetrable synth and rhythm attained spots on Sound Selection on RTR FM Perth and Sweet 16 on SYN Melbourne. Blues rockers The Snowdroppers come in at #4 in the Amrap Regional Chart with their dark slab of bluesy rock Devil Child. The boys have been extremely involved with community radio as of late, with interviews on The Bridge on FBi Radio, talking about pubs and the meaning behind the name The Snowdroppers; and also on Living in the Land of Oz on Melton Community Radio where frontman Johnny Wishbone talked about the new album and the origins of The Snowdroppers. As well as these interviews, the Sydney four-piece also performed as part of 2ser Sydney’s ‘Live at The Loft’ series.
Solo psych-pop artist Sunbeam Sound Machine finds his way into the Amrap Metro Chart at #6, with his upbeat and punchy new single Getting Young. The sunny track obtained places in Sound Selection on RTR FM Perth and Sweet 16 on SYN Melbourne, and can be heard on Amrap Pages via FBi Radio Sydney, 4ZZZ Brisbane and Home Brew Radio in VIC. Indigenous singer-songwriter Robbie Miller takes out the #6 position in the Amrap Regional Chart with his latest single The Pain. Robbie caught up with The Hoist on SYN Melbourne to chat about his first experience at BIGSOUND as a showcase artist, as well as his soon-to-drop debut EP and upcoming tour with Mike Waters. The haunting new track garnered airplay on ArtSound FM in ACT, Valley FM in QLD, Wangki Yupurnanupurru and Tjuma Pulka Media Aboriginal Corporation in WA, 3RPC, Mountain District Radio and Ballarat Community Radio in VIC, 5GTR, Tribe FM and Radio Adelaide in SA, and also 2AIR, 2EAR and Byron Bay FM in NSW.
