Alberts celebrates five decades of its recording label
Alberts’ recording arm Albert Productions will celebrate its 50th year next month with a 102 track compilation release.
The 5 CD box-set, Good Times: Celebrating 50 years of Albert Productions, is named after Easybeats’ 1968 track Good Times, written by Harry Vanda and George Young. The set will be released through Alberts and its long-term label partner Sony on August 15.
Amongst the 102 songs from Albert Productions’ archive are two unreleased tracks: Rose Tattoo’s interpretation of the Mick Jagger and Keith Richards song Street Fighting Man and a demo of The Easybeats’ 1965 release She’s So Fine, featuring a young Stevie Wright, who calls out “take two” before a beat is laid down.
Launched five decades ago in 1964, Albert Productions has found a place on both the top of the ARIA and international charts, at the annual ARIA awards ceremony and has been recognised with an inclusion in the ARIA Hall of Fame.
“To survive 10 years in the music business is an achievement. To survive 50 years – and thrive during the process – is something else entirely and requires many talents, not least of all integrity, “ said George Young. “Its founder, Ted Albert, had that in abundance, as it does his successor, David Albert. Long may it continue.”
