AIR Unveils First International Speakers for Indie-Con 2024
Lisa Hresko, GM of the Unites States’ independent music industry body A2IM, and U.S.-based producer and artist manager Nicole Ficenec (Our Bad Habit) are among the first wave of international speakers confirmed for Indie-Con 2024.
Joining the line-up of the speakers are Ellie Rumbold (Partisan Records), Stuart Kennedy (ATC Live) and Emmy Feldman (Heavy Duty), organisers announced Monday (May 27).
As previously reported, the Indie-Con Australia Conference will return to Adelaide’s Mercury Cinema from July 31 to Aug. 2, for a program that will cover the length of challenges and opportunities for the indie music sector, and focuses “on issues that are specifically relevant to the independent music sector,” according to the Australian Independent Record Labels Association, which produces the annual powwow.
Once again, the conference wraps with MusicSA’s Scouted, showcasing emerging and unsigned talent from South Australia’s music scene.
The Malinauskas Government supports Indie-Con and the AIR Awards, which will be presented on Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Queen’s Theatre in Adelaide.
Cub Sport, The Teskey Brothers and Jem Cassar-Daley lead the nominations heading into the 2024 AIR Awards, a celebration of the best and brightest from Australia’s independent music community which is entering its 18th edition.
Early-bird tickets to the three-day conference are available until June 30 via Moshtix.
As a way to help members of the indie music community feeling the pinch with the cost of living crisis, AIR will cut the cost of annual membership for Australian members, with effect from July 1.
At that point, associate members’ fees will reduce from $300 (plus GST) to $175 (plus GST); full membership comes down from $600 (plus GST) to $375 (plus GST); and Australian distributor members’ fees will reduce from $1,500 (plus GST) to $900 (plus GST).
