Indian Summer, Mashd N Kutcher, Strange Talk announced in EMCPlay first lineup

PRESS RELEASE:

EMCPlay, Australia’s leading event for emerging electronic music talent, has today announced a first line-up full of the hottest electronic music artists in the country right now.

In 2014, EMCPlay took over Kings Cross to showcase Australian talent to a thousands-strong audience of media, industry and fans. This December 2, over 30 acts will perform at showcases across multiple CBD venues in Sydney for one massive night of forward-thinking electronic music as part of the Electronic Music Conference (EMC).

Brisbane duo Mashd N Kutcher, who’ve had their biggest year yet in 2015, will showcase their epic live setup in their first EMCPlay appearance. Joining them will be budding songstress and ARIA winner Nicole Millar, fresh from the triple platinum selling success of her Peking Duk collaboration ‘High’. Having just signed to EMI and with a much anticipated first single on the way, things are only going to get bigger for Millar.

EMCPlay will also play host to electro-pop charmers Strange Talk, Sweat It Out recruits Porsches and Indian Summer, Gold Coast beatmaker GXNXVS, Carmada hero L D R U, 19-year-old Melbournian producer Asdasfr Bawd, West Coast based producer and internet sensation Elk Road, 90’s R&B devotee Vanessa Elisha plus many more to be announced later this month. Be there to hear what the future of dance music in Australia sounds like.

EMCPlay received over 150 applications from hopeful artists looking for the coveted opportunity to join EMCPlay alumni KLP, The Kite String Tangle, Motez, Slumberjack, SAFIA and Peking Duk. In 2015, artists will perform for a room full of audience of music fans, industry decision makers and international talent buyers out here exclusively for EMC.

This year the Electronic Music Conference will again connect Australian talent with a number of the most influential talent buyers from South East Asia, North America, UK and South America as part of its Incoming Visitors Program in partnership with Australia Council for the Arts. Leading the Incoming Visitors Program this year is AM Only Senior Agent Denise Melanson. Considered one of the most electronic music agents in the world, Denise books some of the world’s biggest acts including Kill The Noise, Knife Party, Chase and Status, 12th Planet, Jack Beats and Shockone. She’ll be joined by Spin Artist Agency’s Rob Woo, also from the USA, whose roster includes the Australian duo riding a mighty wave of success internationally this year, Peking Duk.

EMCPlay Program Curator Dayna Young said it was exciting to help pave the path to discovery for emerging Australian artists. “You only need to look at the overseas success of electronic acts such as Flume, Peking Duk and Alison Wonderland to see why Australia has a strong reputation internationally for developing incredible musical talent. With EMCPlay we’re providing a valuable opportunity for emerging Australian talent to potentially springboard the careers by connecting them directly with the world’s most influential labels, publishers, talent buyers, agents and managers.”

EMCPlay venues will be announced later this month, with early bird tickets currently on sale http://bit.ly/1MWSizx for just $19 until September 27 or until sold out. Ticket buyers will receive a wristband giving them full access to every EMCPlay venue (subject to venue capacities). Second release tickets will be $25, with full price tickets valued at $35 to go on sale in October. EMC delegates will receive priority entry to all EMCPlay Showcases along with access to two full days of conference, networking sessions and welcome drinks. Second release EMC delegate passes are currently on sale starting at $249.

EMC and EMCPlay is supported by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, a key strategic partner of the event with the aim of helping to grow the event, and attracting interstate and international visitors and creative professionals to NSW.
