Lisa Mitchell signs with Believe
Lisa Mitchell has signed a distribution deal with Believe ahead of the release of her new album.
Mitchell’s new single ‘Zombie’ was released on Wednesday, and she said it felt really good to be backed by Believe for the new record.
“The music industry is in constant flux and it’s a relief to be with a distributor that have their finger on the pulse and are so willing to work with my needs and ideas,” she said.
Mick Tarbuk, Believe’s country manager, praised Mitchell’s unique talents.
“Lisa has one of the most recognisable and unique voices in Australian music, and a long and rich career,” he said. “Her new music is outstanding and a true representation of herself – we can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
Mitchell’s manager, Marty Brown, said the process and collaboration had been a joy.
“From the first moment Maya and the team at Believe heard the very early rough demos, they were all in and hugely enthusiastic about Lisa’s new album, and have been an absolute joy to work with to bring it to completion,” he said.
Mitchell has had a number if top 10 albums, including 2016’s Warriors (peaked at #9) with Parlophone and Warner Music Australia, and 2021’a Bless This Mess (peaked at #7 via WMA).
She was nominated for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year at the 2010 APRA Awards, and had a series of ARIA Awards nominations in 2009 and 2010, including Best Female Artist.
She won the Australian Music Prize in 2009 for her debut album Wonder, which peaked at #6 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
