Exclusive: Something For Kate enlisted for Music Matters campaign
Melbourne’s Something For Kate are the latest band to take part in Music Matters Australia and New Zealand’s campaign.
The animated campaign to encourage people to think about the value of music has previously seen Nick Cave, Oh Mercy, Dave Dobbyn, The Audreys and The Rubens among other acts take part.
Usually the focus of the animation is the artist’s backstory, however Something For Kate – who kicked off their 20th anniversary tour in 2014 – decided to shift the focus to the live music and touring aspects of bands.
Created by Sydney-based illustrator and animator Jennifer Dickinson, the short animation follows the imagination of a young boy who wants to start a band.

Music Matters was launched in 2010 and is managed by an Australian/ NZ steering committee made-up of members from ARIA, AIR, APRA/AMCOS, AMPAL, AAM (Managers), AMRA,labels and music publishers.
