Example inks worldwide record deal with BMG

UK-born, Brisbane-based dance titan Example has signed a fresh record deal with BMG.

The signing arrives alongside the news that Example will release his new single ‘Every Single Time’ via the label on Friday September 3.

The song, which features Australian producer What So Not and vocalist Lucy Lucy, will act as a taste of Example’s forthcoming eighth studio record, arriving via BMG at a later date in 2022.

After parting ways with Columbia due to the commercial performance of his music in 2018, Example stated his intentions to remain as an independent artist, with last year’s Some Nights Last for Days marking his first release away from a major label.

However, the UK chart-topper said that he felt compelled to join BMG Australia after being impressed by the “ethos and ambition” of the label in a meeting with managing director Heath Johns.

“I never thought I’d sign another record deal. I’d had so many experiences over the years—many good but also many negative—that I was looking forward to being independent for the foreseeable,” Example said of the deal.

“After meeting Heath and the team I was blown away with their ethos and their ambition. I have been given a fair deal that puts me and my team in the driving seat albeit with an incredible world-class team at our disposal”.

Johns welcomed Example to the label’s local roster, making note of the British artist’s commercial credentials and hinting at the impending arrival of his new music.

“Example is a global hitmaker, an incredible artist who has had international radio hits and delivered iconic sets on some of the biggest stages. The whole team at BMG is incredibly excited to take this new Example music to the world,” Johns said.

Earlier this month, Example signed a joint management deal with Call & Response and Circle Eight, marking the first management deal of his 15-year career.

Example will travel to the UK to play a string of festival dates this summer before returning to perform a number of dates in Australia, with further details to be announced soon.
