City Calm Down
In A Restless House
(IOY/MUSHROOM)Out November 6

Melbourne post-punk troupe City Calm Down have November 6 penned as the release date for their long awaited debut album In A Restless House. After almost three years of writing, the group have begun drip-feeding fans with singles. Lead single Rabbit Run (premiered on Stereogum) takes cues from the Joy Division/New Order songs which pioneered the genre.

Set for release via I Oh You, the label responsible for many of the buzz bands you’ve heard of in recent years (DMA’s, DZ Death Ray’s, Green Buzzard, Violent Soho) the record has been a very large focus point for the label, especially during the time leading up to the first inklings of new material.

Newly released single Wandering was accompanied by a short film, which the band said was intent on capturing"that awkward anxiety one feels when they believe they’re being misunderstood and disrespected, which inevitably leads to palpable frustration if not resolved”.

The group also announced a national tourin the lead up to the record launch following a sold out showcase show at the Northcote Social Club last month. There’s good reason for all the slow-releasehype the band has been building over the last three years. This album has been set up to blow people away and if the singles leading up to release are anything to go off, then they will do just that.
