MTV Brand New Artist Spotlight: Cosmo’s Midnight
MTV Brand New is the youth brand’s new national competition which gives some of the hottest Australian and New Zealand artists the chanceto break internationally. TMN is featuring a nominated artist each week.

Cosmo and Patrick Liney are not only twins; they are also Cosmo’s Midnight, a talented production duo hailing from Petersham in Sydney’s Inner West.
The Liney twins’ interest in production was sparked at a young age, taking inspiration from their older brother’s love for music. When he downloaded the music production software Ableton, so did the twins, and from there the boys began experimenting and making beats.
Cosmo’s Midnight first came to attention after their remixes of tracks by Anna Lunoe, Snakadaktal and JaysWays began to gain traction. Amongst these remixes, was the official rework of Flume’s Sleepless. It was picked by Future Classic and Flume himself for official release. However, it was the duo’s 2014 single Snare that really set off their career, securing spots on numerous national charts and becoming the #1 most played track on triple j. The track also amassed almost 415,000 plays on SoundCloud, resulting in the duo to be named by triple j as the ‘Artist to Watch in 2015.’ The music video, which premiered on the indie YouTube channel Majestic Casual, has also gathered well over 514,000 views.
It’s clear that Cosmo’s Midnight have a bright future ahead of them, and if their slot at this years’ Splendour In The Grass festival is anything to go by, the twins are in for an other-worldly experience.
