Vance Joy releases single ’Fire and the Flood’ with video

PRESS RELEASE:

Vance Joy has treated fans worldwide with the release of a brand new single, ‘Fire and the Flood’.

Premiered on triple jBreakfast this morning, ‘Fire and the Flood’ will be available via iTunes, digital retailers and streaming sites from tomorrow (July 24), and is due to appear on a special, deluxe re-package of Vance Joy’s #1 ARIA album Dream Your Life Away over the coming months. The re-package will also feature another new recording from the musician, ‘Straight Into Your Arms’, which will similarly be available to purchase as a stand-alone song via iTunes from tomorrow.

“I had a recurring image in my head of a guy walking in the neighbourhood where his ex-girlfriend lives,” says Vance Joy about his inspiration for ‘Fire and the Flood’. “He is haunting the places they used to go together. He has time on his hands and feels kind of useless. He thinks that when they are back together he’ll be at peace again.”

The striking video for ‘Fire and the Flood’ is now also live. Created by Seattle-based photographer, director and producer, Hayley Young, the video stars Vance Joy front and centre.

Currently travelling as the main support on Taylor Swift’s epic The 1989 World Tour, Vance Joy’s year keeps getting bigger and brighter. He has just scored an MTV VMA nomination for ‘Riptide’ in the ‘Artist to Watch’ category, alongside stars like George Ezra, James Bay and FKA Twigs. The VMAs take place in LA on August 30.

The Taylor Swift tour – which launched in May and will grace Australia in November and December – sees the musician performing to crowds of 50,000+ each night. In between these concerts, Vance Joy continues to perform his own headline shows interspersed with festival appearances. As part of that juggernaut, Vance Joy will perform three concerts at AAMI Stadium in Melbourne – his last shows for the year.

These achievements add to an already impressive collection for the year so far. Dream Your Life Away went gold in Australia and is now closing in on platinum status, ‘Georgia’ hit platinum sales, whilst global smash ‘Riptide’ (5x platinum locally) claimed the record for the longest standing single in the Top 100 of the ARIA Singles Chart. It is also now 2x platinum in America, with over 4 million sales worldwide, upwards of 250 million streams on Spotify and close to 80 million views on YouTube. In addition, it won the Grand Prize at the International Songwriting Competition in May.

‘Fire and the Flood’ is the next installment in Vance Joy’s story. Details for the Dream Your Life Away re-package will be unveiled soon. Keep tuned to vancejoy.com for all the latest updates.
