Phil Rudd arrested, released on bail

UPDATE: Phil Rudd was released on bail at the Tauranga District Courtthis morning when it was revealed he breached his home detention conditions.

Rudd breached the conditions bypossessingand consumingalcohol. It's allegedprostitutes were present at his waterfront mansion at Matuaat the time of his arrest.

Hewillenter a plea at the court on August 3."I remind you that your home detention order continues and we will revisit this whole matter on the third of August," saidJudge Bidois this morning.

The NZ Herald reports Crown Prosecutor Anna Pollett requested that as a condition of the bail,Rudd undergo drug and alcohol testing when police requested.

Less than two weeks after a New Zealand Judgehanded down his sentence for possession of cannabis and methamphetamine and one charge of threatening to kill, Phil Rudd was arrested again.

Rudd's lawyer Craig Tuck has said the now former AC/DC drummer was jailed on Sunday and is due to appear in court today. It's been reported he spent Saturday night and all of Sunday in jail.

The 61-year-old wassentencedon July 9 to eight months home detention earlier this month atthe Tauranga District Court.He would told by Judge Thomas Ingram he wouldbe imprisoned if he breached the sentence and would be monitored 24 hours a day.

Rudd has been serving the sentence at his Tauranga waterfront mansion, where he has been residing since he plead guilty to the charges last November. In April last year when he plead guilty to the possession charges, the court heard Rudd had offered an associate NZ$200,000 to “take out” an employee at his restaurant.

Rudd was originally charged with attempting to procure a murder.However the charge was dropped in early November due to “insufficient evidence.”

His conviction and court proceedings meant he was left out of AC/DC’s world tour. In February, the band performed the Grammy Awards with former drummerChris Slade. Slade has joined them for the full Rock or Bust World Tour which also took in US festival Coachella in April.

District communications manager Kim Perks from the Bay of Plenty police department told Stuff.co.nz they would make an official comment after the court hearing.
